TRAINING
The Bristol-Bordeaux cycle challenge will be over 400 miles of sweat, tears (hopefully no blood!), getting lost, cycling fast, making friends, aching legs, bike repairs and personal achievement.
But be warned: this may be the most fun you can have on 2 wheels in 4 days, but it’s also ****** hard work and not to be taken lightly. You will need to train, which is why we will put together a training schedule and organise regular training rides to help you get prepared.
You don't have to stick to our schedule but the more work you put in, the more you'll enjoy the actual ride experience. If you do take part in other regular fitness activities, these could be substituted for rides in the schedule, but bear in mind that although they'll increase your general fitness, they won't get you 'cycling fit'.
We would recommend about 14 weeks of training before the Challenge, which means making a start around March! You can begin by taking it easy and getting accustomed to spending a time in the saddle, but we would recommend several really long rides of at least 100 miles, as we get closer to the Challenge.
We will soon have a download of our training schedule for you to follow so watch this space.
