ABOUT PROPS

In the Bristol area there is a lack of meaningful further education and leisure facilities post 19 for young adults with special needs.

PROPS provides opportunities and support for these young people, aged 16-25.

From their new Centre (funded partly through sponsorship raised by the Cycle Challenge) PROPS enable the young adults to gain qualifications and interact with the community through sports, leisure, music and the performing arts. Some of them are able to attend college or do work experience at local businesses.

They also develop partnerships with businesses with benefits on both sides. Employees can get involved with CVQ — a Community Volunteering Qualification with an emphasis on special needs — allowing them to learn new skills, gain confidence and enhance their career, at the same time as offering their expertise to the children running courses and experiences to enrich their lives.

The charity relies on fundraising to enable them to continue their important work.

about-props

“I had never ridden any real distance and had not even been on a bike for nearly 20 years, but Props and the people involved are so inspiring and it was very easy to become involved in the B2B 2009 ride. Everyone was so supportive and I received 100% encouragement from all on the ride.”
